Michael Moorcock: Behold the Man - an infinity plus review
Behold the Man opens with Karl Glogauer trapped in the milky fluid inside his time machine, struggling towards a crack, trying to get out and see if he has succeeded in returning to the time of Christ.
As well as being a stunning character study - one of the finest in SF - Behold the Man is a gripping story, one powered by the tension between the familiarity of biblical tales and their subversion and reinterpretation.
Behold the Man speaks far more eloquently of human compassion and folly and anger than 99% of the claptrap that would be approved of by modern Christianity.

Jamaica Gleaner - 'Behold The Man' shows Gloudon's passion - Thursday | June 30, 2005
ONE OF the more striking features of Ancile Gloudon's 'Behold The Man', a 59-page collection of 54 poems, is his ability to adopt the persona of different Biblical characters, including the central one, Jesus.
But it is the Messiah, not mountain foot village, who is explored in-depth in 'Behold The Man', which is divided into the sections 'Prayer', 'Christ', 'People He Touched', 'Praise' and 'Reflections'.
The poems in 'Behold The Man', while vivid in description and strong on passion, are weaker on their imagery, with the prosaic often taking precedence.

So He brought me there; and behold, there was a Man whose appearance was like the appearance of bronze (brass), with a line of flax and a measuring rod in His hand; and He was standing in the gateway.
The Man with the measuring rod is the Spirit; the Spirit relates to the Man with the measuring rod.
He saw a Man with a measuring rod, that is, the vision of Christ coming to measure the Church, or the churches.

Well, not exactly alone, for Satan is there with him also, doing his best to create doubt in the heart of the Son of Man. As Christ collapses from sheer emotional exhaustion a snake crawls forth from under Satan’s robe and approaches the recumbent figure.
Summoning his strength, Christ slowly pulls himself to his feet and breaks the pregnant silence with a startlingly loud stamp of his foot - this makes you jump - he crushes the snake and the scene transitions to Christ awakening his sleeping disciples.

Yes, let us gratefully confess that, "in accordance with the Scriptures, Messiah died for our sins." But let us also affirm that prior to His death, Yeshua devoted his life to teaching, illuminating and "fulfilling" those very Scriptures-so that we who follow Him might walk in the light as He is in the light.
Ours is to be at all points a 'Christocentric' or Messiah-centered faith, in which "Messiah is all, and is in all." Even our love of the written Torah must be secondary to (though inseparable from) our love and service of the Torah-incarnate Yeshua.
