Behshahr (بهشهر in Persian), also known as Behshar (older name: Ashraf ol Belād) is a city close to the capital of the province of Mazandaran in Iran.
Behshahr is home to Behshahr Industrial Company which is the biggest producer of vegetable oil in Iran since 1951.
Behshahr is home to many famous Iranian figures ranging from actors to political figures.

 Most ancient industrial unit unearthed in Behshahr
The complex, which is already registered as a national monument, is located nine kms to the southeast of Behshahr, Mazandaran province on the Alborz heights among a dense forest.
According to a report released by ICHO media department, the complex served as the private refuge for Shah Abbas I of the Safavid dynasty.
The report added that the water mill, which is located two kms to the southeast of Abbasabad historical garden, was possibly constructed simultaneously with the establishment of the city known as Ashraf-ol-Belad, the present Behshahr by Iranian architects in 1020 AH.

It must be said that the Behshahr textile workers have not been paid for 27 months; of the billions of Tomans owed to the workers, the regime has only agreed to pay £150,000 for the time being and the rest when the land belonging to the factory is sold in the distant future.
Other workers and the people of Behshahr should assemble at the gate of the factory and put pressure on the government, galvanise huge support for the textile workers and help the workers so that they do not have to continue with their hunger strike.

This was not the first protest by textile workers since the company’s management and the state’s authorities did not fulfill their promises, as the result of that angry and frustrated workers were left with no choice but to stage a number of street protests and rallies.

Announcing this, Mahforouzi, an archeologist, said that during the current season of excavation works, conducted in an area stretching from the Behshahr Plains to Galougah City in the Golestan border, 30 historical sites including historical hills, castles, historical monuments, tomb towers, and settlements of the migratory shepherds have been discovered and excavated.
He further added that the archeologists who have been working in the vicinity of one of the caves discovered the cultural relics of the Para Paleolithic age.
During the excavation works, conducted in the valleys between the Gamishan Cave in Neka town to Huto Cave and the beltway of Behshahr, the relics from the Paleolithic age have been discovered and researchers are now conducting a professional study on them.

Over the last few weeks the demonstrations and sit-ins organised by Behshahr textile workers in the north of Iran, have come to symbolise the long struggle of Iranian workers for a right to a decent wage, the right to work.
With 60 years of production, Behshahr Chit Sazi is one of the oldest textile factories of Iran, at times employing over 3000 workers.
However following years of mismanagement and more recently privatisation, this factory like most other textile plants in Iran has sacked the majority of its workforce while those still holding a job have not been paid for over 25 months.

According to him, excavations will be conducted in two locations one in north of Abbas Abad historic complex to identify the architectural style of the garden’s gate and another in the Abbas Abad Palace which overlooks the Behshahr plain and Miankaleh Bay.
Abbas Abad historic gardens are considered the most outstanding example of Iranian gardens, which were revived by Shah Abbas (1587-1629) of the Safavid dynasty.
