King Wu was the first to declare Beijing the capital city in 1057 B.C. Established in 1045 B.C., Beijing is an ancient cultural city, serving for 800 years as the capital of the Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties.
Beijing is also known as a tourist city for its many places of interest, including ancient architecture, royal gardens, mansions, towers, temples, palaces, and modern structures.

Beijing Zoo, situated to the west of Beijing Exhibition Center, was known for a short time after the founding of the People's Republic as the Western Suburbs Park (Xijiao Gongyuan).
In the 18th century, the zoo was known as the Sanbeizi Gardens, supposedly named after the third son of Emperor Kangxi, Prince Cheng Yin.
The park was reopened to the public in 1950, and on April 10, 1955 formally named the Beijing Zoo.

We were only aloud to see the Panda enclosure but my girl friend went to the toilet and pretened to get lost and saw some of the other enclosures, she cried when we got back on the bus, if your like me and don't like animals being mistreated., don't go.
Although it is very heartbreaking to see these pandas, we still encourage people to go and see them in the Beijing Zoo as we hope that this will increase public awareness and hopefully, this will lead to some action being taken to help the pandas.
