Belfalas, a land in the southwestern part of known Middle-earth, is a surprisingly important place, but little explored or understood within the fandom.
Belfalas is the general name of the land between the Greyflood/Gwathló and the Anduin, most of which later becomes Gondor.
Belfalas was a fulcrum of the Second Age and, rather predictably, Galadriel and Celeborn were nearby as the world turned.

As Nancy pointed out, Dol Amroth is the dwelling itself, a "stronghold on a promontory in Belfalas" according to UT. Edellhond was the nearby Elven haven just to the north of Dol Amroth, and it was abandoned I think in 1981.
This is just my take on it, but I think what happened was that after the ending of the kings the lands were subdivided; each area had a ruler and that ruler was loyal to the Stewards, who were representatives of the crown.
She was one of the companions of Nimrodel, among many of the Elves of Lorien that fled to the coast about TA 1980 when evil arose in Moria; and Nimrodel and her maidens strayed in the wooded hills and were lost.
