  Belief
Belief in the psychological sense, is a representational mental state that takes the form of a propositional attitude.
In the religious sense, "belief" refers to a part of a wider spiritual or moral foundation, generally called faith.
Belief is considered propositional in that it is an assertion, claim or expectation about reality that is presumed to be either true or false (even if this cannot be practically determined, such as a belief in the existence of a particular deity).

Sathya Sai Baba can be seen in person performing what followers believe to be miracles daily in the form of materializations of small objects, for example food, jewelry such as bracelets, rings, watches and especially vibhuti (holy ash) and kum kum (the red-colored powder used by Hindus to make the ritual mark between the eyebrows).
Sathya Sai Baba preaches love and the unity of all world religions and assert that people who follow him do not need to give up their original religion.

Sri Sathya Sai Baba - Articles and News: 07/04/2004 - 07/10/2004
Sai Baba has said that one special point to be noted about this manifestation is that the incarnation has not been transplanted away from the place where the body was born, for He had chosen that very place as the center of His alleviatory Mission.
Sathya Sai: To think that some are your enemies, some are your friends, some are your children, some are your relations and to develop attachment or dislike towards them is not correct.

Sathya Sai Baba Controversy - Two Views   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
Sathya Sai Baba has attracted millions of devotees from around the world who have come to his presence to be spiritually charged and to see him with their own eyes.
Shirdi Sai often told very obscure stories in the first person to his assembled devotees as if the story was about him; saying once upon a time he went to such and such place and there some incident happened which he would narrate.
Sai Baba has said that in years to come our photographs will be on the walls of our grandchildren and they will honour and revere us for our knowledge of and our contact with this great avatar.

Sathya Sai Baba Thought for the Day - July 2003
The Gita says that the fire that cooked the meal is God; the meal is God, the eater is God; the purpose of eating is to carry on the work entrusted by God, or pleasing to God; and the fruit of that work is, progress towards God.
By concentrating on bookish knowledge at the cost of its practical application, the spirit of education is lost.
Generally speaking, religious beliefs and practices, folkways, customs and traditions, educational methods, art-form etc., help the formulation of the underlying philosophy.

The Sathya Sai Organisation untruths, misinformation and artifice
Almost needless to point out, but the Sai organisation nor anyone connected with it has never mentioned a single thing about any kind of difficulty or failure in the Rayalaseema Water project, not even when it had to be abandoned to AP State management.
Since the Sathya Sai cult is famous for not replying and remaining totally unaccountable to anyone, BBC II and BBC World television - after due consultation with its policy and legal advisors - felt compelled to use hidden cameras to expose its authoritarianism and hidden agenda in surpressing all sexual abuse allegations.
In Hartford, Connecticut, a Sai school was stopped etc. In Gothenburg a Sai school was closed down by its founder due to SB's sexual abuse involving her son and others.

 Old Introduction
What set Sathya Sai Baba far apart from other major gurus from the very beginning in 1940 (or 1944, according to a recent book: Love Is My Form) was his constant and consistent claim to BE God and his parallel claim is to be divinely Omniscient, Omnipresent and Omnipotent.
With these powerful, compelling accounts of Sai Baba's teachings and personality, I soon came to accept and believe his claims to be an incarnation of God, with full Divine Powers, as also revealed in many other books written by devotees.
For a couple of years, I was happy organising bhajan sessions in my home and still have the photo with what appear to be some tiny spots of vibhuti which appeared on the glass cover after one bhajan session.

 Sree Sai Baba
That is to say, that a person who is not conscious of his inner divinity and is not concerned with his spiritual obligation to self, to others and to God, cannot perform his duty or dharma in the true sense of the term.
The central teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba are strongly reminiscent of the perennial Indian philosophy and have a remarkable one-to-one correspondence with the Sermon on the Mount preached by Jesus Christ.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba has emphasized the fact that in the present age, Kaliyuga, the remembrance of the Lord's name is enough to lead man to the path of self‑realization, and bhakthi marg is the easiest to practise.

 Sathya Sai Baba 'Mahima' Miracles
Many people are induced by the stories about Sathya Sai to dwell again in the wonderful naive beliefs and hopes of childhood.
Note Ganapati's reliance on poetic license in saying that Sai is as "pleasing as the moon itself"...but then the actual moon - which may sometimes look nice - is in reality a barren, inhospitable, cold thing.
SSB claims that Indian 'mahatmas' like Hiranyakasipu and Ravana (who he also says were demonic due to lack of control of their senses and lusts) had mastered all the sciences, could fly through the power of reciting mantras, and had travelled to the moon and to the limits of the universe beyond all the stars!

Sathya Sai Baba Thought for the Day - September 2005
The aim of all Sadhana (spiritual practices) should be to purify the heart.
People may seem to differ in their names and forms and in their beliefs and practices.
It is because Dharma and Sathya (truth) have not been propagated by persons practising them that they have been eclipsed.

On India and Hinduism: The Sathya Sai controversy
Responding to Dadlani's quoting of a few English books published by the SSB organisation, it says the English translations are not accurate because of heavy editing.
However, I believe that the essence and import to Sathya Sai Baba's discourses is fully conveyed in the English Translations and are not being misrepresented.
My basic point was (and is) that there is an essential difference between what SSB says in his frequent unscripted Telugu Discourses and what is subsequently published in English and other languages for devotees to read and study.

Lively association alone produces morality, justice, compassion, sympathy, love, tolerance, equanimity and many other qualities that toughen and train character, and mould the personality of man. Culture is the consequence of the co-mingling of hearts and heads.
The sages of this land resorted to the hermitages in the forests, and mixed with the steadfast seekers there is scholastic discussion and disciplinary practices.
Leaders of peoples have to develop this universal feeling of love, not limited to political boundaries which change from decade to decade, or religious labels which are affixed and erased to suit temporary needs.
