Belle Vue produces mainly commercial, artificially sweetened products, although they have a limited production of "Selection Lambic", which is a tasty traditional Geuze.
Many breweries were closed down in the post-war modernization craze, especially in the sixties, causing the decline of lots of regional beers.
The brewery is open to the public from Easter till the end of November (except for the last two weeks of August), as well on Sundays and on public holidays.

 Strat's Place - Daniel Rogov - Beer - A Bit of History and 33 Reviews
Like wines, the beers of this brewery come in 750 cl. bottles, and in case you're wondering, "La Chouffe" means "gnome" in Flemish and no one can help but falling in love with the bearded, red hooded gnome that decorates the bottles, coasters and special glasses that come with this beer.
The Enkel which has a 5.5% alcohol content is a light, bright ale, with lovely aromas and flavors of hops and the Dubbel, with 6.5% of alcohol, is darker, almost fl with red overtones, has remarkably aromatic and is remarkably refreshing.
They are far different than that, however, the first having aromas and flavors of apples and pears, the second of lemon and vanilla, and the second being far heavier in the mouth.

The brewery is well worth visiting, not just for the fact that for 100BEF you get the run of the place, but also for the friendly hosts, the cute mousers, and the bottomless tasting session.
Although also from the Belle Vue brewery, the neutrality of the flavour on the sweet to sour scale actually made this a very rounded and enjoyable kriek.
The one Trappist brewery that is not in Belgium.

After 15 years of reading about Belgium breweries, importing their beers (I was the first to distribute Chimay, Duvel and Hoegaarden in Minnesota), and of course enjoying their products, I have finally made my first journey.
The Belle Vue Brewery was established in 1941.
After several enjoyable glasses of Kriek, Framboize, and Peche at the Belle Vue tasting room, Jan and his wife dropped Todd and I off at the Cantillon Brewery in downtown Brussels.

Another brewery which sells its own beer is De Dolle Brouwers ("The Mad Brewers"), 12b Roeselare Straat, at Esen, near Diksmuide, in the direction of Ostend (51 502781).
This 1840s brewery was rescued by an architect and his family, who had made beer at home; they brew (and sell) at weekends, and the creamy, dark Oerbier is their speciality.
The best-known is probably Wets, next to a now-silent brewery at 215 Steenweg op Halle, between Dworp, Alsemberg and St Genesius Rode, among the villages of Payottenland on the outskirts of Brussels.

The breweries current dark beer offering is an Irish Stout, but Rob said, he just brewed a Schwartz beer which should be ready in the next month or so, and a Belgian strong ale will be available soon as well.
As examples of the brewery's transitions, Rob and Paul offered us a taste of quite a few beers, ranging from just before Rob's time at the brewery to ones that they have just been brewed and are currently available.
It was a pretty big brewery, which, though it does not turn up much in Brussels, is common to see in most of the bars in the Oudenarde area.

Orval is unique among the Trappist breweries in the fact that they introduce a Brettanomyces strain during the secondary fermentation process along with a "dry hop" charge of Styrian Goldings.
I believe there was a petition circulating on the internet to try to keep the brewery open.
This is of course much better than Oud Beersel going away for ever, but goes a bit easy over the fact that the main characteristic of one lambic/gueuze compared to another is the endemic characteristic microbiological life - the specific bugs in the pipes and hogsheads that created thàt specific lambic.

The Chinese brewer said the brewery, which would be constructed in the Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone in Chengdu City, would commence production in the second half of 2007 and the company would fund the investment by internal resources and bank loans.
