The Mayo News - Call to Shell to connect Belmullet
THE decision by An Bord Gáis not to connect Belmullet to the national gas grid was met with disappointment at a meeting of the Belmullet Electoral Area Committee and led to requests for Shell to finance a pipeline to the Erris town.
In November, Belmullet was omitted from a list of Mayo towns to be connected to the national gas grid from the Corrib gas field, which is to be refined at the Bellanaboy site.
The decision not to extend the pipeline to Belmullet was deemed ‘shortsighted’ by Independent councillor, Michael Holmes, who said anything that the people of Erris got had to be fought for.

Belmullet Golf Club Ireland - Mayo
Belmullet Golf Course is also known by the name of Carn, this is yet another world's end course, with impressive views over the rocky coast to the north of Mayo and Blacksod Bay.
Everyone else would be well advised to study the course closely, because a lot of shots and greens turn blind if you are too far off the fairway, and the eight doglegs are difficult to cope with if you don't get the right distance and angle for the green.
Belmullet is an exciting prospect in match play, because miracles are as frequent as disasters.
