Blithfield is a 320 hectare drinking-water supply reservoir situated to the west of Abbots Bromley in south Staffordshire.
The reservoir was opened in 1953 to supply water to the growing West Midlands conurbation.

 BirdForum - A Devonian Returns To Staffs!
Belvide was a mud bath on my last visit in January and I wondered what it would look like now in July.
We were given good directions to the birding spot by the second birder at Belvide and easily found the hide at the base of a field.
The southernmost of the three reservoirs provided very few birds and it was when we reached the middle one, tank number two, we saw lots of water birds much to our delight.

 BirdForum - Warblers at Belvide?
Don't know about Belvide, but for Groppers in general, the earlier in the morning, the better, at and soon after dawn they often sing from exposed perches on the top of bushes.
Thanks for the info, I have been to Belvide a few times as my brother lives a few miles away and it is the handiest place for birding.
Last year when I visited Belvide Reservoir a local birder said Grasshopper Warblers were breeding at Belvide.

Bank Voles are fairly common residents of deciduous woodland, where they feed on nuts, seeds, leaves, fungi and small invertebrates.
This little chap popped up in front of my wife Helen, while she was sitting beside a small pool near Belvide Reservoir looking for Spotted Flycatchers.
She put down a little of the seed that she was carrying in her pocket and made an immediate friend.

Naseby Reservoir on the Leicester section and Clattercote Reservoir on the southern Oxford Canal were at 30% and 62% capacity in mid January - but both the Oxford and Grand Union (to Milton Keynes) canals can be fed by back pumping from the Birmingham supply.
Wilstone Reservoir, the largest of those at Tring that feed the Grand Union Canal south of Milton Keynes, was at 52% capacity in mid-January, and overall these reservoirs are only likely to reach 73% capacity by March - but these can be supplemented by groundwater pumped from the Tring area.
In mid-January, Toddbrook, Coombs and Sutton reservoirs were at 100%, 77% and 90% capacity, and Bosley was at 66% capacity.

 Song Thrush
The Song Thrush is about the same size as a Blackbird and noticably smaller than the Mistle Thrush, with which it is often confused.
The featured bird was photographed from a hide at Belvide Reservoir after emerging from the undergrowth close to a feeding station.

FOREMARK RESERVOIR A Tree Pipit and 34 Common Terns on Aug.16th.
A walk between the View Point at the north end of the reservoir and the Visitor Centre today produced a list of 33 species, the highlights being: Lesser Spotted Woodpecker feeding at the Paul Stanley Hide, Redstart.

Start at Brewood go passed the Avenue at Chillington Hall look out for the Belvide Reservoir and back along the Shropshire Union Canal.
