 | | In addition, all participants completed the Bem Sex-role Inventory (Bem, 1974; BSRI), as a criterion measure of M and F, and the Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability scale (Crowne and Marlowe, 1960), to assess the role of a social desirability set. |
 | | Validity for these scales was inferred from: 1) the relation of these scales to the BSRI M and F scales, 2) the high Alpha coefficients obtained, and 3) the interaction reflecting the differential effects of cueing and sex on the scales. |
 | | Thus, it was concluded that scales based on animal stimuli can be useful in the assessment of gender with minimal social desirability and reflect a broader concept of gender. |
