Benabarre (Aragonese: Benabarri, Catalan: Benavarri) is a town of the Aragonese comarca of Ribagorza in the province of Huesca, Spain.
Benabarre was the historical capital of the County of Ribagorza, which also included the valleys of Graus and Benasque and the comarca of Alta Ribagorça (capital Pont de Suert), now in the province of Lleida, Catalonia.
Nowadays, the more populous towns of Graus (capital of the Aragonese comarca) and Benasque have taken preeminence over Benabarre.

If you do have the time before your cruise, then one option you have would to begin you journey in Bilbao and follow the road to Gernika and then along coast to San Sebastian-Donostia and Hondarribia before heading through the Bidasoa valley to Pamplona-Iruna (Navarra).
From Huesca you pick up the N240 again and head east through Barbastro and the N123 to Benabarre.
At Benabarre you have the choice to head south to Lleida/Lérida on the N230, or go in the opposite direction, north on the N230, through the Vall del Noguera Ribagorcana to Vielha in the Vall d’Aran.

On the positive side, fuels cheaper than France and traffic lights are easier to spot.
As for the journey, from Bossot down through Benabarre, Huesca, Tudela, and Tarazona, interesting roads these, the road atlas shows them to be secondary roads, but how this can cover dual carriage ways and narrow winding, and undulating lanes, I'm not too sure.
On to Soria, round Valladolid, and after several driving violations (no police fortunately) through Zamora (I would like to see a street plan of that place, just to prove that the sign posts didn't send you on a sightseeing tour before finally letting you out again!
