NNRs are managed on behalf of the nation, not always by English Nature themselves, but sometimes by non-governmental organisations such as the members of The Wildlife Trusts partnership, the National Trust, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds or others.

Benacre Broad is situated on the Suffolk Coast between Lowestoft in the North and Southwold in the South.
At the western end of the broad there are a series of “Bunds” which protect the frequent inundations from the sea from reaching the freshwater marshes.
As you walk back to the beach the way you came turn right and head toward Benacre Broad and the hide which is situated to the south of the broad.

--> Benacre NNR is on the Suffolk coast.
It includes the reedbeds and lagoons of Benacre, Covehithe and Easton Broads, together with the woodlands and heathlands on the higher ground between them.
To the north the reserve extends as far as Benacre village, and to the south, as far as Reydon Smear.

The nearest car parks are in Kessingham (3 km north of Benacre) and Reydon (1 km south of Reydon Smear).
The nearest train station is in Lowestoft, 10 km to the north, served by One Railway.

Benacre Broad and Pits have hosted several partially oiled Red-throated Divers in recent weeks, with perhaps 3,000 or more wintering offshore between Orford and Lowestoft.
A party of 12 Velvet Scoters remain off Dawlish Warren NNR, whilst several Black-necked Grebes are wintering in Babbacombe Bay, Paignton.
In North Devon, the adult Ring-billed Gull continues at the Brethren Lorry Park at Barnstaple and 5 Eurasian Spoonbills winter at Isley Marsh.

Just joined this site today and have been up to Benacre Broad today from Covehithe, weather perfect and took the opportunity to walk along the beach to Covehithe Broad, not a lot around though
