Victoria's 2001-02 Mid-Year Financial Report shows the Bracks Government has continued its high taxing and uncontrolled spending in the six months to December 2001, and confirms that if it were not for almost $1 billion in unbudgeted revenue, the 2001-02 budget would now be almost $200 million in deficit.

The fleet and goodwill of the Blue Anchor Line was purchased in 1910 and the PandO Branch Line was formed to cover the Australian service.
Controlling interest in the Orient Line was acquired in 1919, along with the British India Steam Navigation Company and control of the Eastern and Australasian Mail Steam Ship Company, which therefore became part of the PandO group.
In 1972 the Strick Line was purchased and in 1974, Princess Cruises was purchased.

Barmah is a rural village and district on the Murray River in northern Victoria, 23 km.
In 1863-4 the railway line from Bendigo to Echuca was built, and consumed large volumes of sleepers cut from the red gums in the Barmah forest.
In 1886 a town was surveyed on rising ground near the punt, and the resulting Barmah village became a river outlet for wool from surrounding pastoral stations.

Where the line parallels Conway Street from the RC Primary School until the State Primary school is easy to see although the cutting appears to be partly filled in.
From Tooborac to where the line crossed the Northern Hwy on the up side of Argyle is not easy to follow as it swings away from the highway but it can be seen from the highway.
The Redesdale line, which was closed much earlier, has a simlar level of relics to the Heathcote line even though the Heathcote line carried substatially more traffic and was a far more important Vic.

The few locals who have any knowlege of the railway support this, also on the southern end of the paddock is what appears to be the remains of a small cutting.
The line marked on the map north of the Sutton Grange Road probably exists to show where land was excised from the town plan for railway purposes.
The line extension appears to follow a falling contour around the edge of where the plateau that Redesdale is located on drops away into the steep sided narrow valley of the Campaspe River.
