There is another Saint Benedict, a well-known Saint called Saint Benedict the Black (il moro santo, the holy Moor).
Some say that this prediction of St. Malachy, “From the Glory of the Olive,” refers to the Order of St. Benedict, because they have a well-known group within their order called the 'Olivetans.' There is some merit to this idea.
Malachy is predicting that the city of Rome will be destroyed during the Pontificate of the Pope called Peter the Roman.

"Benedict XVI has chosen a coat of arms that is rich in symbolism and meaning, so as to put his personality and his papacy in the hands of history," said Italian Archbishop Andrea Cordero Lanza di Montezemolo, an expert on heraldry and creator of Benedict XVI's new insignia.
The upper left-hand section of the shield depicts a brown-faced Moor with red lips, crown and collar; it is a symbol of the former Diocese of Freising dating back to the eighth century.

According to at least one news report, Benedict views this African symbol as emblematic of the universality of the Church.

A Black Catholic group sponsored a blood drive at St. Benedict the Moor Church, Hill District, the same spot where People Against Police Violence launched a snowy afternoon march to remember King and protest against police abuse.
