 Benoît Poelvoorde, printable version.
Benoît Poelvoorde was born on September 22, 1964 in Namur (Belgium).
Benoit, as a general-purpose artist that it is, excels with the theatre ("Model deposited"), in series of sketches for the tele one ("Notebooks of Mr Manatane"), or on large screen ("Doors Of Glory").
The diary of turning of Benoit désemplit not since it will be also with the poster of "Hikers 2" and "Astérix with the Olympic Games" in 2007.

When Bernard Frédéric (Poelvoorde) is not sitting behind a desk in a bank, he's either arguing with his wife Véro (Depardieu), or he's looking back into his closed past, which was all about acting as famous singer Claude François.
Poelvoorde for himself, tries his best, yet, he does not top his performances he delivered in the brilliant 'Man Bites Dog' or the smut 'Le vélo de Gislain Lambert'.
His moves are quick and he sure knows how to express attitude and say his lines, but, given the dragging plot and the simple story, he, after all, doesn't get the real big chance to prove yet again that he IS in fact a great actor.

From Poelvoorde’s loose but broad portrayal of Ben to the extreme viewpoints the character occasionally spouts, Dog often lays it on thick, with varying rates of success.

Benoit does not represent what Hannah Arendt referred to as the "banality of evil" but rather an "ambiguity of evil," and it makes pigeonholing this character at times extremely problematic.
Benoit's overdramatic French dialogue is a scream, and many of his views on life are just downright hysterical.
After Benoit unexpectedly shoots a man in the head during Benoit's birthday party, the camera lingers for just an instance on the blood splattered faces of the other guests, then whip pans to find our hero seated at the table and enjoying a slice of cake.

dOc DVD Review: Man Bites Dog (1992)
Of course Benoit is a monster, but he's also a self-styled aesthete—he's happy to garrote someone at random on a train, for sport, and think nothing of it, but he saves his true outrage for the poorly designed and shoddily constructed low-income housing in which he finds many of his victims.
In what's probably the most disturbing scene, the documentarians join with Benoit in the gang rape and murder of a woman as her husband looks on; then they kill him, too.
Extras Review: The featurette (08m:57s) is a 1993 interview with the three filmmakers, conducted in English, in which they discuss the making of the movie—the idea was born as they attended film school in Belgium—and its international reception, especially at the Cannes Film Festival.

Man Bites Dog Movie Review at Hollywood Video
There are two types of serial killer — the "quiet type," like Jeffrey Dahmer, who dissect their victims at home without kicking up too much of a fuss, and the "charmer type," such as Ted Bundy, who use their charisma to lure vulnerable souls to their doom.
Ben (Benôit Poelvoorde), subject of the Belgian faux documentary Man Bites Dog, is a bit of both.
He certainly isn't subtle about his murders, garroting passengers on trains, bludgeoning pedestrians, and shooting it out with other murderers (some of whom are also being followed by camera crews).

Man Bites Dog is a Belgian faux-documentary and high-concept satire of media violence which follows the lethal exploits of Benoit Benoit Poelvoorde, an affable, and very talkative, serial killer.
He is followed through his slaughter-fest by the filmmakers, Rémy and André (the actual filmmakers, Rémy Belvaux and André Bonzel), and the line between reporter and subject becomes blurred pretty quickly.
Eventually, when their funding runs out, Benoit hires them to continue making the film, and soon they are accomplices in a gang rape.

Man Bites Dog - Movie Review
Man Bites Dog's Ben (Benoît Poelvoorde, who also wrote/directed/produced as part of a cadre of guerrilla filmmakers who) is unapologetic about his vocation (serial killer).
In fact, he's darn proud of it, and he aims to teach us a thing or two not just about the hard work of a madman, but about his racist, misogynistic, and generally misanthropic philosophy too.
Dog is so real it hurts: When Ben's parents (Poelvoorde's real folks) are interviewed about their son, they weren't told that he was playing a mass murderer in the movie.

Although still mostly a one-sided view of the media’s infatuation with violence, the lightheartedness of the plot and characters gently eases (think mental suppository) the message into the mind rather than the toddler-esque “shape-shove” used by the aforementioned 15 Minutes.
Benoit is the subject of a student documentary, and also a serial killer.
After following him around for such a long time, the director and friends begin to help him out in unusual ways and even get involved in his lifestyle…to the downfall of them all.
