	Berane - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Berane (Беране) is a town and municipality located in Serbia and Montenegro, situated in the north-east of Montenegro.
		There are 40,885 people in the Beranе municipality (2003 census).
		Forming a part of the Sanjak of Novi Pazar From July 1949 to March 1992, Berane was known as Ivangrad.

		Three violent explosions in Podgorica and the burning of haystack in Berane are terrorist actions which represent a culmination of political divisions in Montenegro.
		That a wave of demolition raids with a flare of terrorism has truly began on the territory of this smaller unit of the present Yugoslavia was confirmed by a "political" pyromaniac from Berane who set fire to his neighbour's haystack, just in front of his family home.
		The perpetrator was apprehended immediately and according to his own confession his reasons were political - he is a Bulatovic's sympathizer and the son of his neighbour is the head of Djukanovic's party in that town.

		Berane, June 14 - Convoys of refugees from Kosovo, this time mostly Serbs and Montenegrins and a somewhat smaller number of Roma and Muslims, are again arriving to Montenegro.
		Director of the General Hospital in Berane Miodrag Radunovic emphasizes that medical workers immediately visited displaced persons and checked their medical needs, while the hygienic-epidemiological service has disinfected the toilets and bathrooms in the refugee centers.
		As was said at the gathering, the intention is for the men to go back to Kosovo and find out whether a secure return of their families is possible and whether there are conditions for a normal life in their homes.

		Berane deputy Mayor Strahinja Arsovic signed the Agreement on behalf of Berane Municipality.
		The signing of the Agreement was preceded by the National Workshop on Montenegro in February 2004 in Podgorica.

		The most serious form of violation of the right to life, the terrorist act when explosive was thrown on a block of flats in Berane, happened on January 11, 2002.
		The protagonists, not yet identified, placed and activated explosive in a block of flats in the street 29 novembra in Berane, in front of the front door of the apartment of head of police, Dragan Mazic.
		Besides endangering the right to life of citizens of Berane, these terrorist acts were conducted with an obvious intention of destabilizing Montenegro, endangering its territorial integrity and constitutional order, as well as general frightening of Montenegrin citizens in order to disable them to freely decide on the legal-state position at the referendum.

		With the intention of inspiring hatred for Djukanovic in Montenegro’s north, namely in Pljevlja, Berane and Bijelo Polje, Bulatovic accused the Prime Minister of pursuing a policy aimed at seceding Montenegro from Serbia and accused his government of engineering the development of the republic’s south at the expense of its north.
		During Bulatovic’s tour of the north, Djukanovic and Marovic called a session of the DPS executive board which released a statement to the effect that the President had broken the rules, and that he was therefore no longer entitled to appear in public as the party’s presidential candidate.
		While Bulatovic was on his way to Berane, the DPS executive board held an urgent session (Bulatovic didn’t show up because he knew he would be the talking point) and told the President to come without his "tutors", more precisely the working group to be appointed by the party’s leadership.
