Beretta 86 Cheetah - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
First appearing in 1986, the Beretta 86 Cheetah differs quite a bit from other Cheetah pistols as it has a tip-up barrel and lacks an extractor.
Unlike the FS variants of the Cheetah, the model 86 lacks a decocking device, as it is possible to tip the barrel up before manipulating the hammer and safety.
The Beretta 86 Cheetah was designed as a backup pistol, for individuals needing a self defense pistol and for South American markets where owners may not puchase pistols of a more potent caliber.

Deservedly so: a Beretta pistol is both a trimuph of design and reliable performance, offering the user the optimal combination of form and function.
Nearly all the features of the famous Beretta 92 model are present in these models: the open top slide, single or double action, automatic safety and manual safety on both sides with decocking lever.
The “full size” Beretta pistols (92 model and its derivatives) were specifically designed and manufactured for the military.

 Italian Pistols - Beretta
Notes: The Beretta M-1915 was produced in quantity when the demands of World War 1 outstripped the ability of Italy to produce the Glisenti pistol Italians were using at the time.
It uses a short recoil system rather than the straight blowback system of Beretta’s smaller designs; this reduces recoil somewhat as well as making stoppages less common than they would be if a blowback system were used with the more powerful ammunition of the M-92.
The rear sight is adjustable, it has anatomical grips (before the war, Beretta would tailor the grips for the user), and has a muzzle counterweight for better balance.

About the Beretta 86 Cheetah, .380 ACP semi-auto with a tip up barrel   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
First appearing in 1986, the Beretta 86 Cheetah semi-automatic differs quite a bit from other Cheetah (and all other.380) pistols as it has a tip-up barrel and lacks an extractor.
The Beretta 86 Cheetah was originally designed as a backup pistol, for individuals needing a self defense pistol and for South American markets where private citizens may not puchase pistols of a more potent caliber.
As there is no extractor, in case of a misfire, one has to tilt up the barrel to removed that round with the fingers, then tilt it back into position before racking the slide to load a fresh round.

American Rifleman: Beretta .32 ACP Tomcat   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
Introduced in 1996 and made in Beretta's factory in Accokeek, Maryland, the Tomcat is a blowback-operated pistol with an external hammer, tip-up barrel, manual sear-blocking safety and a single-stack seven-round magazine.
For this reason, Beretta cautions against carrying the pistol with a round in the chamber, even with the hammer down and the pistol in doubleaction mode.
Under no circumstances should the tiny Beretta be carried in the "cocked and locked" condition (round chambered, hammer cocked and safety on), as it lacks the extra safety features of those pistols (such as the Colt M1911 Series 80 guns) designed to be carried in that fashion.

However, there is also a Beretta 32 caliber, auto, with a tip up barrel which means you don't have to have the muscular strength to pull back the slide.
I like the Beretta 86 Cheetah idea the best in your particular situation, because it can be loaded without having to rack the slide, then manually cocked, and carried "cocked and locked" (safety on with a round in the chamber and the hammer cocked, Magic).
Also, remember that the amount of strength needed to rack a slide on a semi-auto pistol is a function of not only the weight of the spring, but also of the length of the slide.
