Bergen County celebrated the 300th anniversary of its founding March 7, 1983 at which time it was governed by a nine-member Board of Chosen Freeholders.

British troops, hoping to trap Bergen militiamen asleep in the house, mistakenly killed eight of their own men and wounded several more on May 30, 1780.

It displays Bergen Dutch furnishings, made or used in the County of Bergen between 1680 and 1860, belonging to the Bergen County Historical Society, a volunteer association organized in 1902.

The Bergen County Line is a branch of the New Jersey Transit Main Line line serving communities to the east of the Main Line.
Prior to the opening of Secaucus Junction in 2003, Bergen County Line trains used a longer stretch of old Erie track in Secaucus, extending south to Croxton Yards and a merge with the Main Line.
It began in East Rutherford, as the Erie Main Line continued west across the Passaic River to Passaic, Clifton, and Paterson; the original name of this branch was the Bergen County Cutoff.
