Above the Bergenhus fortress are the walls of the Sverresborg, built about 1660 on the remains of a castle of King Sverre.

Bergenhus, Norway. Travel guide & tourist information by Hostelbookers.com
Just to the west of the Bryggens Museum lies the Bergenhus, a large and roughly star-shaped fortification now used mostly as a park (daily 7am–11pm).
Its thick stone-and-earth walls date from the nineteenth century, but they enclose the remnants of earlier strongholds – or rather their copies: the Bergenhus was wrecked when a German ammunition ship exploded just below the walls in 1944.
Surplus to requirements once Norway lost its independence, no-one knew quite what to do with the capacious hall for several centuries, but it was revamped in 1910 and rebuilt after the 1944 explosion – it's now in use once again for public ceremonies.
