The Bergse Maas or Bergsche Maas is a canal that was constructed in 1904 to be a branch of the Meuse River in the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant.
River Meuse splits near Heusden into the Afgedamde Maas ("Dammed-off Meuse") to the north and the Bergse Maas to the west.
The latter are free of charge, as promised to the people living in the area when the Bergse Maas was dug, but as of 2004, a fee of €1.00 is charged for cars.

As we had a lot of stuff to transport from Oisterwijk to the Bilt suggested to Marloes that we'd cycle to the Bilt (Near Utrecht).
By car it's 75km but it would be a bit more if we would cycle it as we had to cross all the big rivers that cross the Netherlands like the Maas, the Waal and the Lek.
To be able to cross these we could cycle to places where there is a bridge or places where we can take a ferry.

In Zevenbergen I get on the N285 to Wagenberg.
From Wagenberg I drive to Made where I ask for directions to Raamsdonkveer where I hoped to find a secondary road to Hank, on the other side of the Bergse Maas, a wide river.
Unfortunately the only bridge is the A27 freeway to Utrecht so this is the only two kilometers of freeway I'll use.
