Beriah Rice was a fourth generation descendant of Edmund Rice, born about 1594, and Thomasine Frost, born about 1599, who emigrated from England to Sudbury in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1638.
Beriah Rice's will tells us that Mary was alive in 1763 as he leaves half of his property in Annapolis to her.
Beriah left a one half right to his farm "on the east side of the creek known as Bloody Bridge Creek..." for the space of six years "but at the expiration of said term the above mentioned half right (to the) farm shall be you son Timothy's hereafter...".

Beriah Rice Jr married Catherine Ann (?) after 1801; Although there is uncertainty about whether Beriah had two or three wives and the name of his first wife, the 1818 census tells us that his last wife was the mother of Robert Muckford Rice and that her name was Catherine Ann.
