One of the occupants of the building was Beriah Wilkins, born in Union County, Ohio, in 1846 and married in 1870 to Emily J. Robinson, also of Ohio.
John F. Wi1kins, Sr., born in 1872, was the son of Beriah and Emily J. Wilkins.
Wilkins then involved himself in other business enterprises, becoming president of the Randolph Hotel Co.; president of Potomac Realty Co.; director of National Metropolitan Bank; and a member of the Washington Stock Exchange.

 The Washington Post: Bios of Publishers
Frank Hatton, a former Postmaster General and a "stalwart" Republican, and Beriah Wilkins, an Ohio congressman and an ardent Democrat, were both 42 years old when they joined forces to purchase The Post on a 50-50 basis.
After he died his widow charged Wilkins with illegally taking majority control of the paper, but a settlement was reached and Wilkins, who had withdrawn from Democratic party affairs once he became a newspaper proprietor, carried on in sole control for another decade.
Wilkins died in 1903 and was succeeded at The Post by his sons, John and Robert, both Princeton graduates.

He was married to Jemima Wilkins in 1801, and to them were burn three sons and one daughter.
Wilkins immigrated here with his family from near Fawley, N. He was a farmer, and died in the township October 27, 1858, aged sixty six years.
The dwelling houses of Joseph Miller, Beriah Wilkins and James McCrea, but after a few years the services were transferred to the Miller Schoolhouse and conducted there until the first church edifice was erected in 1855.

Two things happened that year that raised the profile of the rag that would -- exactly 100 years later -- see fit to hire Answer Man. In January, Beriah Wilkins and Frank Hatton bought the paper from founding editor Stilson Hutchins.
And in April, Frank Hatton started something called The Washington Post Amateur Authors' Association.
