If New Berlin and the Town of Brookfield don't each contribute their share to the project, Bliesner said, the heavily traveled highway would be four lanes except for a two-lane section between Baythorne Way and Barker Road.
Town Chairman Keith Henderson and two of the three town supervisors, John Schatzman and Robert Flessas, said that they saw little to no value in the project for the town, which only has about four-tenths of a mile of Greenfield Ave.
Henderson told town supervisors he could support the project if the state would allow the town to become a village to protect its borders and ensure the financial ability to pay for the project.

Redgranite in Waushara County has one of the most colorful histories and was the site of what was called a "boom town." The area was called Sand Prairie in the late 1800's and had been settled as farm land.
The Berlin quarry had to shut down in the winter and this new granite offered an opportunity to work year around.
This was however a boon to the area farmers because they could furnish transportation at a time when they had little to do on their farms.
