The court held that Michigan law does not recognize "nuisance claims based upon environmental contamination on adjacent or nearby property" where the plaintiff's "sole theory of nuisance [is] diminution in the value of their property." Because there was no substantial interference with the use of Berardo's property, the nuisance claim was dismissed.
Under Michigan law, when a renewal policy is issued without calling to the attention of the insured a reduction in coverage, the insurer is bound to the greater coverage contained in the earlier policy.
The Michigan Court of Appeals, however, held that the duty to defend is "not based solely on the terminology used in the pleadings" and that a court must "focus on the cause of the injury to determine whether coverage exists." Slip op.

In the late 1940's the Trustees of Liberty Township, namely Edwin Jackson, Henry Schmehl, and C.B. "Hank" Marquette entered into a pact with trustees of Delaware, Berlin, Troy, Brown, and the north half of Liberty Township known as Liberty B for fire protection to form the Stratford Fire Department or Five Township Fire Department.
In March of 1952 Liberty Township firemen again were the leaders in the county by contacting other fire departments in an effort to organize a county fire association.
Berlin Township established its own department in Cheshire and Liberty B combined with Liberty A for a full township department.

 Webster Fails to Make Grade for Tax Money
Noah Webster, a home schooling network chartered by the Berlin Township school district in Ionia County, claims 1,500 to 2,000 students.
The law requires each charter school to operate at a single location but "the truth of the matter is the pupils of Noah Webster are scattered across the state, located in individual homes," he said.
Leaders of the approved charter schools were pleased by Schiller's action, but concerned about delays caused by the lawsuit from a group that includes the Michigan Education Association.

From Berlin he went to Michigan, where he was foreman of shops for several years in the mining districts.
Genrich has not been satisfied to follow only the usual routine of his business, but in 1911 he patented a sleigh knee of his invention, which is called the Malleable Oscillating Sleigh Knee, and under the same patent he also manufactures a boy's bob-sled.
Genrich was elected as a member of the village board, and in 1907 to the Mayville township board.
