  Ghost Towns of Knox County
Knox County, northeast of Columbus, is home to Centerburg, the geographic center of Ohio, as well as the towns of Mt. Vernon and Gambier.
One of the biggest grain elevators in central Ohio was constructed at the mouth of the feeder, which was used as late as 1881.
The first gristmill in Knox County was located here, at the point where Granville Road crosses the tributary, but it was built at a place where the water often ran dry, so it could only operate right after a heavy rain.

Berlin shall be composed of the eighth township of the thirteenth range, except the sixth and seventh sections in said township eighteen.
The southern parts of Knox county were the favorite hunting grounds of the Indians residing at Greentown and Upper Sandusky, and they annually encamped here for several weeks at a time during the hunting season, and were generally successful in securing large quantities of game.
Johnson was considered the leading merchant of Knox county for many years after he first commenced business in the village and was a great help to the early settlers in enabling them to pay for their farms.
