In Bern and Luzern, most of what you would be interested in is a fairly short walk from the train station.
As you probably know, the airport train station is in the airport building itself, with elevators and escalators to assist you, if I recall correctly.

Bern has its own airport, but you might also cosider Geneva which is a couple of hours by train (If I remember well) from Bern.
Bern is nice and a 2 day break is the ideal.
One problem with Bern airport is that there is no train station, so you have to take a bus from the airport to town, and I think they only run once an hour.

The European airport of Berne (Belp) is serviced by airport-train station shuttles to the stations in Berne and Belp.
There are direct connections from Spiez to the airport, but watch out for connections with train changes in Bern, Thun and Zurich's main station, in case you are carrying a lot of luggage.
