The Most Noble Bernard Marmaduke Fitzalan-Howard, 16th Duke of Norfolk KG (30 May 1908–31 January 1975), known as Earl of Arundel and Surrey before 1917, was the eldest surviving son of the 15th Duke of Norfolk, who died when the then Lord Arundel was only 9 years old.
The Duke was Minister of Agriculture between 1941 and 1945.
The Lordship of Herries of Terregles, being an old Scottish peerage, was inherited by his eldest daughter, Lady Anne, who married the English cricketer Colin Cowdrey, who was later created a life peer as Baron Cowdrey of Tonbridge.
