Bernhard Rosenkraenzer (or Bero to the internet community) is a Swiss free software developer, currently developing Ark Linux, and contributing to various other free software projects such as KDE and OpenOffice.org.
Rosenkraenzer has previously worked for both Mandrake Linux and Red Hat.
Rosenkraenzer was a nominee for the 1999 Free Software Foundation awards.

 KDE developer quits Red Hat over unified desktop - theage.com.au
Top KDE developer Bernhard Rosenkraenzer has quit Red Hat in protest at the company's decision to unify the default desktop which it offers with its forthcoming 8.0 release.
In a posting to the KDE developers mailing list, Rosenkraenzer, better known as "bero", said: "Effective immediately, I've left Red Hat (mostly in mutual agreement - I don't want to work on crippling KDE, and they don't want an employee who admits RH 8.0's KDE is crippleware)."
Rosenkraenzer did not respond to an email query as to the exact nature of his reason for leaving.

Bernhard also replied to Linus' suggestion of 2.95.2 as being actively maintained.
Bernhard asserted that it wasn't as actively maintained as it could be, and added that a comparison of numbers of patches in the 2.95 tree against the 2.96 tree in Red Hat's Rawhide distribution would show more activity on 2.96.

The comments in this posting are not directed only to Bernhard, who is making an honest attempt to suggest possible solutions to the XFree86 license controversy, but to all the open software distributors who have accepted or are considering accepting the new XFree86-1.1 license.

 Ark Linux team releases Ark Linux 2005.1
According to the Ark Linux co-founder Bernhard Rosenkraenzer, "the goal of Ark Linux is to build the easiest to use Linux distribution for people converting from That Other Operating System, while keeping it technically sane."
"The base install CD of Ark Linux contains everything the average desktop user will need," according to Rosenkraenzer's announcement of the release of Ark Linux 2005.1.
