Bernisse (population 12,684 in 2004) is a municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland.
The municipality is named after the eponymous river, which flows right through it from the Spui (river) to the Brielse meer and separates the estuary islands of Voorne and Putten.
The municipality of Bernisse consists of the following towns, villages and townships: Abbenbroek, Biert, Geervliet, Heenvliet, Oudenhoorn, Simonshaven, Zuidland.
