		Berovo is a small city near the Maleševo Mountains, 161 km far away from Skopje, 47 km from Strumica and 52km from Kočani, in the Republic of Macedonia.
		Berovo lake and the forest of the Malsevo Mountains are two popular sites for tourists and Berovo craftsmen are well known for their skill in traditional wood crafting.
		In the early 19th century Berovo was a rural settlement with around two hundred houses and one small church that had fallen into decay.

		The municipality of Berovo is in the East part of the Republic of Macedonia.
		The municipality of Berovo and the surrounding communities are located at the periphery of the Males lowland.
		Berovo can be reached from two directions: through Kocani and Vinica, which continues towards the border crossing Klepalo and through Delcevo, Pehcevo towards Strumica.

		The results from the analysis made show that the concentration of threehalogen methane in the drinking water is the highest in Berovo — 99 micrograms per litter, in Sveti Nikole - 93, while the maximum permitted concentration is 100 micrograms per litter.
		In order threechalogen methane from the water to have carcinogenic effect the concentration should be 5 to 10 times higher than the maximum permitted concentration, while the individual has to be exposed to the influence of this water (to drink it) during his entire life.
		In the case of Sveti Nikole a mistake was made during its planning stage, because the water was tested in summer, when it is clean.

		This area is known for its pine tree forest, and the local population produces the so called “pine honey” a syrup made of young pine cones used for colds and pulmonary diseases, but is also tasty for pancake dressing and an additive for other deserts.
		Several old crafts exist in Berovo, but all of them now are on the verge of their extinction.

		Following the seminar in Berovo, Sofka Dimitrova and Stefanka Temelkovska will begin implementing the GLOBE program at "Johan Hajnrih Pestaloci".
		I am proud that the GLOBE Program has been successfully working in Macedonia since its implementation in 1998 and that from year to year the number of new GLOBE schools is increasing.

		This pilot programme for investments has been prepared by a team of experts working for the Macedonian government, as is was announced by MIA.
		The Board of Directors of the World Bank has voted positively for the loan to the amount of $5.000.000 that will be used for the development of cultural tourism in Macedonia.
		The exact amount that the municipality of Berovo will receive in order to implement the programme has not been determined yet, but it is expected that at least the contents of the programme will be revealed soon.
