Bertram only appeared in the Season 5 episode 'Toby's Discovery' with no dialogue, and was built using Duke's body with Smudger's face.
After Thomas had left with his last Branch Line train, the Passenger appeared and requested a special train for himself, resulting in Thomas being shunted to a siding while Stepney took the Special Train.

Lady Bertram did not at all like to have her husband leave her; but she was not disturbed by any alarm for his safety, or solicitude for his comfort, being one of those persons who think nothing can be dangerous, or difficult, or fatiguing to anybody but themselves.
She was sure Sir Thomas had never intended it: and she must say that, to be making such a purchase in his absence, and adding to the great expenses of his stable, at a time when a large part of his income was unsettled, seemed to her very unjustifiable.
Miss Bertram's attention and opinion was evidently his chief aim; and though her deportment showed rather conscious superiority than any solicitude to oblige him, the mention of Sotherton Court, and the ideas attached to it, gave her a feeling of complacency, which prevented her from being very ungracious.

 SparkNotes: Mansfield Park: Chapters 1-3
The new Lady Bertram became the talk of the neighborhood for her marriage; although her family was comfortable, they were not wealthy enough to see one of their daughters married to a baronet under normal circumstances.
Sir Thomas and Lady Bertram have four children: Tom, the heir, is 17; Edmund, who is to be a clergyman, is 16; Maria is 13; and Julia is 12.
The marriage of Sir Thomas and Lady Bertram is the kind of event that would normally conclude one of Austen's novels: a beautiful but not economically suitable girl captures the heart and eventually the hand of a nobleman, while her younger sister "settles" for a nice clergyman with a comfortable living.

 Palmer
She shows Lady Bertram treating her pug like a baby, always in her lap or in her arms, and being exhausted by her day’s work of “'sitting and calling to Pug, and trying to keep him from the flower beds'” (74) much as a young mother spends her afternoons watching a toddler.
All this, added to the failures of Lady Bertram’s children, serves to illustrate the moral that a woman’s duty is to mother her children, not to waste her time with pets.
Lady Bertram’s position in life as mistress of a gracious country estate earns respect from Austen, else she would not have contrasted it so favorably with the lot of the younger sister Frances in Portsmouth, nor would she have conferred the position as reward upon her heroine Fanny at the end of the novel.

 Mansfield Park, by Jane Austen
Lady Bertram repeated enough of this conversation to her husband to convince him how much he had mistaken his sister–in–law’s views; and she was from that moment perfectly safe from all expectation, or the slightest allusion to it from him.
Sir Thomas, however, was truly happy in the prospect of an alliance so unquestionably advantageous, and of which he heard nothing but the perfectly good and agreeable.
Lady Bertram made no objection; and every one concerned in the going was forward in expressing their ready concurrence, excepting Edmund, who heard it all and said nothing.

If Sir Thomas had only one set of values, he would be compelled to break the engagement immediately or else he could easily allow Maria’s future to be sacrificed for his benefit without having to justify his decision to himself.
Still a bit queasy about authorizing Maria’s marriage, Sir Thomas consoles himself with the (inaccurate) observation that Maria’s disposition is, like his wife’s, so placid that she will never be unhappy with the lot to which he is anxious creditably to assign her.
However, Austen’s use of “would” and “could” tell the true story; Sir Thomas convinces himself that his idealized picture shows the true nature of the situation because he does not want to shoulder his share of the moral blame and does not want his social standing to be harmed.
