		Beruas is a small town in Perak Darul Ridzuan, Malaysia, believed to be the location of the old Hindu Kingdom of Gangga Negara.
		It is also believed to be the birthplace of Islamic teaching in Malaysia.
		Beruas is also the name of a type of wild mangosteen.

		BERUAS: The Cabinet has decided to prohibit all kinds of logging near the Pedu Dam reserve forest area in Kedah, Primary Industries Minister Datuk Dr Lim Keng Yaik said yesterday.
		The decision, which includes logging by helicopter (heli-logging), was made at the Cabinet meeting two weeks ago because it believed the forest around Pedu Dam was a water catchment area that needed to be preserved, he said.
		Dr Lim told reporters after launching a camp for free medical consultation and medicine organised by the Beruas Puteri Umno here that the decision was not made because of pressure from any party.

	Keng Yaik Wants Indonesia To Overcome Illegal Timber Activity
		BERUAS, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- Primary Industries Minister Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik wants the Indonesian government to overcome the illegal timber activity as fast as possible and not to blame Malaysia which it alleged is the centre for the sales of such timber.
		Dr Lim, who is also Beruas Member of Parliament, said that in June last year, the government has imposed a ban on the importation of logs from Indonesia and in July this year, it banned the importation of squared logs which are sawn timber more than 60 square inches in size from Indonesia.
		He said that these types of timber were allowed to be imported from other countries.
