The mission of Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business and to foster personal and professional excellence among its members.
Lifetime membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest achievement available to business students anywhere in the world, and is extended to the upper 7 percent of juniors, the top 10 percent of seniors, and the upper 20 percent of graduate students.
Beta Gamma Sigma collegiate chapters currently operate on 417 college and university campuses, and can be found in all 50 states and on four continents.

The Rowan University collegiate chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma was recognized as a Premier Chapter for it's superior level of membership acceptance and promotional activities in the 2003-2004 academic year.
Sigma Beta Delta, which served as the business honor society from 1996 - 2002 while the College of Business was a candidate for Accreditation by AACSB.

 Sigma Beta Delta
Sigma Beta Delta traces its beginnings to June 19, 1986, where, at a Beta Gamma Sigma Long-Range Planning Committee meeting in Williamsburg, Virginia, the decision was made to thoroughly examine its relationships with schools that had regional accreditation, but not specialized accreditation in business.
In subsequent discussions, Beta Gamma Sigma leaders acknowledged that the business honor society is a vital participant and positive force in higher education, and should be available to all regionally accredited baccalaureate institutions.
The culmination of the discussions was a decision by the Beta Gamma Sigma Board of Governors in January 1994 to establish Sigma Beta Delta.
