Meckville Mennonite Church (Mennonite Church USA), a member of the Lancaster Conference, began as a mission station in the Meckville area, Bethel Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
After some disappointing experiences in joint work with the Church of the Brethren, and then in a purchased schoolhouse which burned to the ground, the mission board in 1932 built a brick building, 36 x 50 ft., near one of these schools.

A builder of churches and schools, Weiser was the founder of Reading and Berks County and has been named Man of the Year in 2002, the 250th anniversary of the birth of Berks County.
After 1740, when Lancaster County was erected and encompassed lands west of the Schuylkill River, those residents in the townships of Cumru, Bethel, Brecknock, Heidelberg and Tulpehocken traveled south to the county seat in Lancaster for court matters and farmers markets.

Strangely, although Conrad Weiser owned an extensive estate in Berks County, all of it had been disposed of by his descendants by the l830's, and few of his descendants remained in Berks County.

This office is waiting for a meeting to be scheduled between Berks County and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) in order to discuss the planning and scheduling for the design and permitting documents as it pertains to the current PADEP deadlines.
We will be providing the Township with the unknown resident properties that we are aware of by the end of this week so that it can be completed by the beginning of March for RCAP.
