 Science Fair Projects - Bethlehem Works
The Bethlehem Steel Corporation announced that it would discontinue its steelmaking activities at the main Bethlehem plant by the end of 1995.
The consensus was to rename the 163 acre (0.7 km²) site "Bethlehem Works" and to use the land for cultural, recreational, educational, entertainment and retail development - including the National Museum of Industrial History, in association with the Smithsonian Institution, and the Bethlehem Commerce Center, consisting of 1,600 acres (6 km²) of prime industrial property.
Fall - Bethlehem Steel is preparing a proposal for funding through a "brownfields" initiative from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to support infrastructure improvements.

Bethlehem Steel Corporation announced in January that about 1,600 acres of its South Side plant have been designated as the Bethlehem Commerce Center to revitalize the site and return jobs to the community.
The Bethlehem Commerce Center joins Bethlehem Works as the development efforts for the entire 1,800-acre tract of land on which Bethlehem Steel operated its plants for more than 140 years.
Bethlehem hopes the Commerce Center will become a "center of business activity for Bethlehem" for light and heavy industrial uses, manufacturing and assembling, warehousing and commercial and office space.
