Now, after suffering through the pseudo-sequel Betrayal at Antara, we the gamers are now presented with a true sequel to one of our most revered classics: Return to Krondor.
Explaining why Return to Krondor (and not Betrayal at Antara) is the actual sequel to Betrayal at Krondor would take some time.
Betrayal took place in a vast world in which the player navigated his or her (damned women's lib makes me change my writing style) party using an overhead map, punctuated by quasi-3D tactical combat or trap evasion at key points.

This first book of the Riftwar Legacy trilogy is based upon the original story created by Neal Hallford and John Cutter, set in Midkemia, to form the plotline of their game, Betrayal at Krondor.
Gorath believes that another war with the humans will be devastating to his people, and has come south to warn of the moredhel's intentions in the hope that if the Kingdom is seen to be prepared, it will deter the dark elves and head off a full war.
There is, of course, a betrayal, which forms the requisite plot twist when it is discovered.

The game is called Betrayal at Krondor, made in 1993 it was hailed as one of the best RPG's ever, and many a gamer still believes this to be true.
Gorath claims that he has an important message for the Prince of Krondor, so Locklear frees him of his chains and the trio sets off down the road to Krondor.
If you really want to play a sequel of BaK, look for a copy of Return to Krondor, it's a much better (if still flawed) game, and Feist did write the story for that one, and much like before wrote a book based on the script for the game.

Flat "paper-doll" digitized graphics is just about the only criticism you can level at this classic, which features an excellent plot written by best-selling fantasy author Raymond Feist (who also had considerable input in the design process), memorable characters, cool spellcasting interface, and an abundance of optional sub-quests and riddle chests.
Sierra briefly provided a free download of this game in 1997 to promote their own sequel Betrayal at Antara (which, without Feist' s input, is a pale shadow of its predecessor).

But first-time Feist readers may find Krondor the Betrayal baffling and tiresome--without the momentum of the larger series, much of the story's effect is diminished.

Krondor: Tear of the Gods (The Riftwar Legacy) by Raymond E. Feist
Based on the award-winning Betrayal at Krondor computer game, this launch of a new series set in Feist's popular Riftwar world (Magician, etc.) lacks originality but offers plenty of action and enough familiar and new characters to keep loyal fans of Feist and that computer game happy.
Loosely based on the computer RPG "Betrayal at Krondor", this book is not up to par to the original trilogy or even the later sequels.
