  BeGroovy » BeUnited
BeUnited has already announced its planned presence at the conference and I’m sure there are more to follow.
So BeUnited, that group of dashing gentlemen tirelessly working to save your favorite os, have launched their Open Standards Portal, a site dedicated to posting standards proposals and refining them through a community process.
As BeUnited and YellowTab are the only two announced OBOS distros I know of, this means there will be a pretty strong level of standardization.

The LooneyBin v3.1 » Blog Archive » The history of Java on BeOS…
Well, until beunited tells me to shut up (probably won’t be long) I’m going to attempt to set the record straight and describe the current status of Java on BeOS.
I don’t see beunited telling you to “shut up” so long as you are telling the straight truth and nothing but the truth.
Tomaso was slated to be the team lead of beunited’s project, but then “real-life” took over before we recieved the source from Clay and he had to move on to other things.

Palm Strongly Declines BeOS Licensing to BeUnited - OSNews.com
BeUnited, the organization which tried to license BeOS from Palm, has received today a final answer from Palm: "...we have made a firm decision NOT to license any part of this technology other than that which we incorporate into the Palm OS".
It is already known that the new 32-bit PalmOS will feature some elements of the Be technology, but that OS is built for PDAs, not for the desktop.
OSNews learnt that BeUnited will now focus into fully support the Open BeOS and maybe even the BlueOS efforts.

 Cynic’s Soapbox » Blog Archive » BeClan
I find it very worrying that people who consider themselves to be “BeOS”; people seem to believe that BeUnited is a force for good.
They have a clearly defined agenda which is to remake much of the world as we know it in their chosen mould.
I’m sure people will now say that this could have been done via BeUnited, but in my opinion (and that of many others I’ve talked to) they would be wrong.

 Java On OBOS
BeUnited can't release it until Sun certifies it, which means it will have to be completed before certification before release.
One devious way to get Java before certification would be to sign Sun's developer licensing, and join the beunited team.
But, please let them know that is what you are joining for, so they don't expect actual work out of you.

 Re: BePlex86 developmemt
Eugenia that was not my intention, and I really don't give a damn about BeUnited's rules.
Just because some of us have *jobs* besides BeOS doesn't mean you or BeUnited can demand results.
For instance I just got off a 72 hour shift, so forgive me for not sleeping and working on the project.

Bedoper - All the news that fits *I* print
We have oodles and oodles of evidence that suggests, nay proves beyond a shadow of a doubt, that much of BeOS’; wholesome goodness is the result of stolen SCO Unix Code which we found in a dumpster behind ATandT, ours under the legal principle of Finders Keepers.
However, we are willing to offer BeUnited and their umbrella company of intellectual property pirates a yearly, renewable, sliding-scale based license which will enable them to double click for an entire year, or until the next time we revise our licensing.
A stunned BeUnited spokesperson was on hand to say “I’m not sure how to respond to all that.”

Today yellowTAB and BeUnited announce a milestone in the post Be world: they will be co-operating on porting Sun's Java J2SE version 1.4 to ZETA and OSBOS.
Both parties had been working independently on their own ports but it didn't take long to agree to pool resources.
Thus, all OSBOS will have compatible localisation making it easier for developers to release localised versions of their applications for various OSBOS distributions.

I got through to David Nagel's very friendly secretary, Ann Christensen.
She said that no decision has been made and that she isn't actually aware of David Nagel and Steve Sakoman being in possession of the BeUnited proposal, something confirmed to me in a call to someone else a little later.
I then reviewed the proposal and sent it to David, Steve and Ann, who 'promised' to make sure it gets to David and Steve's attention.

The LooneyBin v3.1 » Blog Archive » Merry Christmas!
So between times playing games and visiting with my family I’ve stolen away to post something here to my blog.
As I’m checking around the various BeOS news sites (begroovy, haikunews, ICO, zetanews etc.) and BeOS project sites (haiku, beunited) I’m terribly distraught that haiku and beunited’s web server still seems to be out of commission.
The reason this outage bothers me is that I really wanted this gift to the community to originate from beunited.org, not me. Without beuniteds hosting this project, providing support and communications, and helping to organize it in the beginning, this wouldn’t be possible.
