  'Beverly Hills Cop II'
Beverly Hills Cop II," the new sequel to the hugely popular Eddie Murphy comedy about a brash Detroit detective working undercover in Gucci central, has sleek lines and goes from zero to 90 in nothing flat.
As such, "Beverly Hills Cop II" is the purest expression we've seen so far of the Simpson-Bruckheimer esthetic: It's fast, rich-looking, empty and proud of it.
Beverly Hills Cop II, at area theaters, is rated R and contains profanity and some scenes of violence.

Logical Entertainment: Beverly Hills Cop Ii DVD REVIEW
After the extreme popularity of Beverly Hills Cop, Beverly Hills Cop II had to be made; a film that grossed as much as the original did, as well as the type of film this was, naturally allowed for a sequel.
Beverly Hills Cop II revolves around Axel Foley and his trip back to Beverly Hills, California to find the person that attempted to murder his friend from the Beverly Hills Police force, Captain Andrew Bogomil.
As Cop II was shot in Super 35, there is quite a bit of grain noticeable on the transfer throughout, yet this is an inherent drawback of Super 35 so we really cannot blame Paramount.

 Beverly Hills Cop II (1987)
Cop II snagged a reasonable $153 million, which placed it third for 1987; an unspectacular year at the box office, Three Men and a Baby won with $167 million, which Fatal Attraction narrowly edged out Cop II for second place with $156 million.
Cop II doesn’t escape that fate, though I must admit that some of her scenes are among the film’s most effective.
Beverly Hills Cop 2 doesn’t include as many supplements as did the DVD for original flick, but it tosses in a few pieces.

 Beverly Hills Cop (1984)
Okay, so even though I claim to be pretty knowledgeable about the movies, I won't say that this is the original buddy cop movie because I'm sure there were some before it, but Beverly Hills Cop is quite possibly the most famous buddy cop series, with the probable exception of the Lethal Weapon series.
What I like about Beverly Hills Cop is that, while it's falls into a sub genre that is a cliché in itself (by now, at least), it does something a little different in the way that it's structured.
There are a lot of classic ploys in the movie, such as the fact that Foley is a cool, street smart cop from Detroit, while the guys assigned to follow him are geeky white police officers from Beverly Hills, presumably not used to dealing with tough cops or tough criminals.

Beverly Hills Cop II is like so many of the successful sequels of the 1980's in that it feels more like episode two of a television series than a real sequel to a film.
