Beverly Hills Cop III is a depressing, abhorrent spectacle -- big-studio cynicism incarnate.
I honestly don't know whom Cop III is meant for, except the executives at Paramount, who have watched their other franchises (the Indiana Jones series, the Star Trek series with the original crew, the Friday the 13th series) come to a close and want to revive the Axel tentpole.
Cop III does bring back Pinchot as Serge, gallery owner turned weapons dealer (huh?), but this time it's a breeze for him to steal his scenes from Murphy.

DVDCC.COM: Beverly Hills Cop Iii DVD REVIEW
Beverly Hills Cop III has so many problems, the biggest one being the extremely weak plot that serves to bring Axel Foley back to Beverly Hills (do we still consider him a Detroit cop at this point???).
Audio wise, Beverly Hills Cop III is given the same treatment audio track wise as its predecessor, in the form of an English Dolby Digital 5.1 track, and 2.0 tracks in English and French.
Beverly Hills Cop III is truly a disappointment to the series and therefore I cannot recommend it unless purchased in the box set.

Beverly Hills Cop III - DVD Movie Central
Cop III came and went at the box office, got slammed by critics, and was followed up by Murphy's worst movie to date, the dreadful Vampire in Brooklyn.
Cop III is driven more in its comedy, which is displayed here much enthusiastically than the action, which there is much of but not as plentiful like the first two movies, especially Cop II.
While Cop III isn't as memorable as the first two movies, there are some huge laughs in the movie, as the movie's plot centers around corruption at a popular theme park, which I find somewhat original.

Not only was Beverly Hills Cop the movie that confirmed Eddie Murphy's movie career, it was also the beginning of a brand new franchise.
Cop III is nowhere near as good as the first two (neither of which are really spectacular to start with), and is nothing more than a cheap attempt at reviving an old franchise.

Murphy seems sweetly humbled, ready to work for laughs, as if he knows "Beverly Hills Cop III" may be his last chance to win his dwindling audience back.
Back in Detroit, loose-cannon cop Axel Foley (Murphy) is supervising a routine raid of an auto chop shop; the extended scene with crooked grease monkeys dancing to the Supremes' "Come See About Me" is funnier than both "Sister Acts" combined.
And a few of the slapstick set pieces are genuinely thrilling, especially a riotous nighttime chase scene, with Murphy's car falling apart in chunks, and a spectacular Ferris wheel rescue.
