I hiked the 1/2 mile to the main gate and there was Beth Morin, a total stranger, and Bevo was in her car.

The most recently retired Bevo was Bevo XIII, which like the current Bevo was supplied to the University by John T. Baker, owner of the Sunrise Ranch in Liberty Hill, Texas.
Baker is past president of the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America and serves as a judge in its competions.
Bevo XIII, originally named Sunrise Express, was returned to Baker's ranch where he was born to live out the rest of his days in peace.

For his leadership, Bevo Howard was presented the French Air Force Wings, the coveted French Medaille de L'Aeronautique, and later the Ordre National de la Legion D'Honneur for his pilot training and accomplishments as an aerobatic flyer.
A rare combination of pilot and businessman, Bevo became interested in flying air show exhibitions in 1933 and had flown in the U.S. and abroad before millions of air show spectators and television viewers.
Bevo, in 1938, became the first flyer to outside loop a light plane, performing the feat in a 37 1/2 HP Piper Cub.

The owners of Bevo's Grill, Sam and Deborah Mansoor, are hesitant to remove the signage from their recently renovated restaurant.
The owners said many options were considered for the logo before the restaurant opened this May. They considered a bluebonnet, the Texas state flower, in the mouth of a Longhorn before deciding to use a dark blue Longhorn silhouette as the restaurant's logo.
According to the lawsuit filed Aug. 25 against Bevo's Grill, the University contends the marks and name of the restaurant falsely indicate to the purchasing public that Bevo's Grill is affiliated with the University.
