Beware the Heavens - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Beware the Heavens is the first album by the power metal band Sinergy, it was released in the year of 1999.
The ablbum features two instrumental tracks "Born Unto Fire and Passion" and "Pulsation", and a track inspired by the series Xena: The Warrior Princess, entitled "The Warrior Princess".
Some melodies that can be heard in the song "Beware the Heavens" were sampled from a song called "Translucent image" by Inearthed (now known as Children of Bodom) the song is featured on Inearthed's 1995 single: Ubiquitos Absence Of Remission.

Beware The Heavens is more of a power metal effort, so if you're looking for something scary that you can blast out your car so everyone know's you're a tough guy, this isn't it.
They were wonderful and "Thank Heavens for Dale Evans" was a rip-roaring success for those of us fortunate enough to experience the joy of music sang from the heart.
As well as featuring great tunes, Heavens Journey also serves as a showcase for many new poems that have been recorded by this legendary painter, writer and musician.

 Interview With Sinergy's Kimberly Goss - Metal-Rules.com
And another thing about Beware the Heavens was that I didn't like the production and also we were tuned to C sharp which is a half step lower to what we are tuned to now.
And somebody was playing one song from Beware the Heavens and I got all "yeah, ugh", and chills but not in a good way.
That was also the change from "Beware the Heavens" and "To Hell and Back", is that we changed the tuning of the guitars.

Then after Kimberly's departure from DIMMU BORGIR she decided to move to Sweden and turn this "side project" into real band with a full line up.
After recruiting members Alexi Laiho - lead guitar, Sharlee D'Angelo - bass and Ronny Milianowicz - drums, they entered Studio Fredman to record their debut album "Beware The Heavens" in October/ November of 1998.
"Beware The Heavens" was finally released in June of 1999.

The band was meant to be a side project, but since Kim got booted ("eventual departure" sayeth the bio) from Dimmu, hell, she wants to make the thing "full-time." But I have no idea what that means to some of these EuroMetal bands...
Truth be told, it's kind of a nice show-off vehicle for the guitarists (not that they really need to prove jack shit), but the melodies and the vocal projection are either trite or amusingly archaic.
Final cut: the multi-layered vocal-only intro of "Beware the Heavens" is probably the dorkiest song-title-as-dramatic-opening I've heard in a long time.

Here Alex is free to indulge his power-metal jones and shred away like Malmsteen, and boy does he ever.
"Beware…" is crammed full of killer licks and tasty solos that almost fall over themselves in their eagerness to get out.
The rest of the bandmembers on this album reads like a who’s who of Swedish metal, with In Flames/Hammerfall axeman Jesper Stormblad on rhythm guitar and the ubiquitous Sharlee D’Angelo on Bass.

I don't think it has much to do with the fact that they were both recorded in different line- ups (two members remained from the first line up: Kimberly Goss, the Sinergy frontwoman, and Alexi Laiho, the guitar player, also a member of Children of Bodom -- both being the core of the band).
Something totally missing on "Beware The Heavens." The debut album also contains very energetic and powerful music, yet it all sounds more melodic.
"Beware The Heavens" is a very well-structured album.

Beware the Heavens is pretty similar to the other Sinergy releases.
But my biggest gripe about "Beware the Heavens" is that it really needed one or two more songs.
Also, each of the two discs are just over 60 minutes, so they easily could have fit another 25 minutes of music over these two discs.

Produced by Fredrik Nordstrom, Beware the Heavens gets my vote for best production quality of the year.
The sound is very clean, which is necessary because you want to hear all the details these talented musicians have to offer.
If you're someone who has to categorize a band before giving a stamp of approval, then this album is probably not for you.

Both guitarists have earned their mark (in fact, "Pulsation" stands at a par with a song like Jason Becker's "Air", though more compact).
But "Beware the Heavens" is primarily a really pleasant album.
If it's not a pleasant album you're looking for, you ought perhaps to steer clear of it.

Whilst there was a transformation from their debut Beware The Heavens to To Hell And Back, Suicide By My Side has more in common with their sophomore release and once more it shows the bands aggressive instincts.
Alexi, bless his evil heart, even manages to do some vocals on the track "Shadow Island" - any fan of COB will enjoy this mix that includes Kim doing some more operatic movements whilst also matching Alexi's aggression.

In the short year since the release of their debut album, Beware The Heavens, Sinergy have gone through a handful of changes.
Vocalist/ex-Dimmu Borgir chanteuse Kimberly Goss, for some reason or five, was forced to relocate from her native Sweden to Finland, in the process losing guitarist Jesper Stromblad (In Flames) and bassist Sharlee D'Angelo (Mercyful Fate, the Haunted, Witchery, and a slew of others) due to their outstanding obligations, and of course, mere geography.
