 KABRASTAN (The Graveyard) (1988)
Well, audiences reacted to Bhakri's monster-less tale of horror with an emphatic thumbs down and the film was to depart theatres in record time.
Not only is their a distinct lack of anything remotely "horrible" on screen, the audiences patience and indeed sanity is severely tested with painfully long drawn out scenes featuring the talent-less Jagdeep doing what he does in every single Bollywood horror film - torture the audience with his utterly bereft and sub-infantile brand of comedy.
Bhakri really has come up with an appalling stinker this time which simply doesn't have an iota of anything to recommend even the Lata and Asha songs are jarring as they appear out of place and in conflict with the surrounding dross.

 AMAVAS KI RAAT (1990)
Mohan Bhakri was a director who used to mix and match hit horror films from the west in order to come up with his “own” concoctions and clearly ideas were in short supply by 1990 when Amavas ki Raat hit the screens.
Kiran Kumar is the cop hot on the trail of the killer and eventually they manage to trap the marauding psycho killer and kill him, yet somehow the murders continue unabated – clearly something fishy is going on.
But clearly the ideas had begun to dry up quite badly for Bhakri by the time 1990 came about because this film is very clichéd indeed with every scare and shock being utterly predictable on a consistent basis.

I do not know which kind Goa Portuguesa serves, but the bhakri, a sort of a thick roti made of dry shrimps which is an essential ingredient of the balchao, comes from Luotolim, our Mario Miranda's native village and the place he disappears to every once in a while.
There are women in the village who make the bhakri, which is later sold in the Margao market.
Vivek Bhanushali, 18 years with the Taj and now the genial general manager of the Goa Portuguesa, explains: "First you make the pickle, you require palm vinegar and palm feni, and the feni has to be genuine, home made in a respectable Goa home, not synthetic.
