  Works of Mahakavi Bharathiar
Bharathiar was educated at a local high school where his talents as a poet were recognized even at the age of 11.
By 1912, Bharathiar was already a legend in South India and his political meetings were attracting multitudes of young patriots, ready to join the non-violent movement for attaining freedom from the British rule.
Bharathiar died on September 11, 1921, at the young age of 39.

 BHARATHIAR UNIVERSITY
The Bharathiar University was established in Coimbatore by the Government of Tamilnadu in February, 1982 under the provisions of the Bharathiar Univerisyt Act, 1981 (Act 1 of 1982), with jurisdiction over the districts of Coimbatore, Erode and the Nilgiris.
The Postgraduate Centre of the University of Madras which was functioning at Coimbatore prior to 1982 formed the core of Bharathiar University, in 1985, the University received recognition from the University Grants Commission (U.G.C.) New Delhi, which made the University eligible to receive U.G.C. grants.
The Internet facilities available in Bharathiar University are open to University faculty and students, college teachers and students, research organizations, and also to government offices, industries and the public and serve the region well.

The object of the Bharathiar Palkalai Koodam is to carry out the propagation of South Indian Art and Culture and to establish a memorial in Pondicherry to the poet Subramaniya Bharathi.
Bharathiar Palkalaikoodam is located at Ariyankuppam at an area of 10.5 acres of land with good surroundings and congenial atmosphere for study of such art and cultural subjects.
Bharathiar Palkalaikoodam is a society registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 and is affiliated to Pondicherry University.
