 Rahul Banerjee | Ashoka.org
The transcription and publication of the vast body of folklore and the publication of magazines in the Bhili dialects is gradually creating reading material for Bhils to entice them back to their language.
With a view to mainstreaming the Bhili language and also, very importantly, to make an impact upon the present generation of school-going children, Rahul is introducing the language in alternative and non-mainstream schools.
Bhili is already being taught as a language in one such school.

Nihali has been noticed by historical linguists for the very high percentage of borrowed vocabulary, and the variety of (proposed) sources for that borrowing, and the `suspiciously simplified' syntax of the language.
The `Bhili language' is, apparently, a number of Indo-Aryan dialects of the regional languages in the extensive area of Bhil settlement (Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh - see Koppers' map)).
I examined one lexicon of Bhili - Thompson (1895) - and found no vocabulary cognate with the Old Nihali vocabulary identified by Kuiper, Shafer and myself in the data Kuiper used and in and Mundlay's data.

Part of the mystery is due to inadequate data, this lack to be overcome in large part by Asha Mundlay's shortly to be published materials (most of them collected in the sixties).
It has been suggested on general ethnographic grounds that it might be related to the language of the Bhils when they had one (before the present Indo-Aryan "Bhili" dialects of Gujarati, Rajasthani, etc. were formed), but there is almost no evidence of what that "Old Bhili" language was like.
A preliminary exploration of a Bhili dictionary's (seemingly) non-Indo-Aryan vocabulary turned up no forms plausibly cognate with Nihali forms.

Language Politics in India: Four Snapshots
These 23 languages cover 95% of the speakers; all other languages are spoken by just 5% of the population.
But even 5% is large in a country with more than a billion people: thus, many minority languages have more than a million speakers; for example, the indigenous language Bhili is spoken by nearly 6 million people (GOI 2002)!
But in a country with deep inequalities, not surprisingly, we also find linguistic asymmetries.
