		Soil erosion in Bhola has turned severe rendering thousands of people homeless while the government continues to delay the approval of a proposal to set up a permanent embankment on the country's biggest island.

		A 14-year old schoolgirl of Uttar Patarchar village in Muladi upazila under Barisal district was gangraped in front of her parents in the early hours of yesterday, police said.
		Police quoting family members of the victim said Shihabuddin, 20, of the neighbouring village along with five other men broke into the house and raped the girl right in front of her family members who were held hostage at gunpoint.
