By using the reaction against that column as evidence of the media bias he is alleging, Goldberg defends both past column and present book.
His emotion makes the book entertaining and persuasive without interfering with what is really at stake, which, Goldberg argues, is not specific liberal opinions but the larger issue of human intellectual arrogance.
The book's greatest strengths are, first, that it is a quick and enjoyable read and, second, that it is an attack not on liberals but on their intellectual pride.

Bias (book) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News is a book by Bernard Goldberg, formerly of CBS, giving detailed examples of liberal bias in TV news reporting.
Goldberg asserts that this bias is so pervasive that liberals are blind to to it.
He lambasts journalists and other personalities for harboring what Al Franken describes as a point of view which divides American media into two groups, (a) the unbiased "mainstream" and (b) the biased "right-wing" (see Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them}.

The book is full of great one-liners and sad proof of how the news we are fed are filtered through liberal bias, again either intentionally or not intentionally.
Goldberg creates a foundation for the book by detailing the liberal tone/attitude within the major networks (when they were polled on whom they voted for, 85% of the journalists answered Democrat).
His books have given a great measure of credibililty to the concerns of millions of Americans who have known for years how biased the elite media was.

I learned years ago in college that when reading a non-fiction book, other than, let's say, most memoirs, that if the book is without reference materials, a bibliography, or notes that allows the reader to verify the information, then the book is most likely a sham.
I recommend this book to any American who wants to understand why what is portrayed in the establishment press and TV news coverage is so often at odds with their own perceptions, beliefs and first hand experiences.

National Review: Tackling Bias. - book review
In his new book, Goldberg has a chapter on the "News Mafia," in which he compares himself to a mob member who cooperates with the authorities.
Goldberg begins the book with a transparent joke about how his liberal friends are planning to celebrate its publication; a page later, he dismisses it as a "cheap attempt to be funny." This fitful beginning sets the tone for a book that is too often sarcastic when it ought to be serious.
Goldberg says that Heyward went on to admit that "of course, there's a liberal bias in the news" and to say that he would deny it if Goldberg ever repeated their conversation.

But to deny liberal bias, the elites not only have had to brush off their own viewers, they also have had to paint their critics as wild-eyed ideologues—and then completely misrepresent what they say.
Despite the overwhelming evidence, despite all the examples of bias that were documented in my book and others, despite the surveys that show that large numbers of Americans consider the elite media too liberal, despite all of that, the elites remain in denial.
In fact, the only reason so many smart liberals are convinced there is no liberal bias in the news in the first place is that this is what they keep hearing from the mainstream media they rely on for so much of their information.

Smith notes what book inspired Fripp to make this choice, but then goes no further to explain what the book is actually about; he doesn't seem to have even asked Fripp if the guitarist still practices the spirituality to which he ascribed.
Admittedly, this is a book about King Crimson, not about Fripp alone, but the guitarist/composer's career has been so closely tied to the band he leads that to ignore his outside interests is to ignore potential inspiration that he might bring to Crimson.
It makes the book feel rushed, as if Smith is so eager to get on to the Crimson parts he speeds blithely past any other details that would be of interest.

Bias 2001 deals with two vital factors in British flat racing - the class of a horse, (focusing on handicap races), and the importance of where a horse is drawn.
However, possibly the most important type of bias is the draw.
For example, some courses only seem to show bias when the stalls are placed on a particular side of the track; others only seem to show bias on certain types of going; whereas bias at some courses is directly related to the number of runners in a race.
