Shiloh Baptist celebrates 275 years Friday, Oct. 11, 2002
His challenge was, "Looking back should not take you back, but inspire you to move forward." Shiloh began a contemporary service and worship team in 2000 and is beginning to see results from its recent implementation of the FAITH Sunday School evangelism program.
Shiloh Baptist Church, located in rural Camden County, celebrated its birth with a series of services Oct 5-6 that featured period dress from the 18th century, and a digital piano and PowerPoint presentation from the 21st.
He returned to Shiloh as pastor from 1941-46, and published a translation of the New Testament in 1949.

Biblical Evangelism was given – as Curtis Hutson has made so much of – a lump sum of $5,000; allowed all the time needed to remove personal library, desks, files and other office equipment belonging to us; and permission to leave our book stock on the premises until December 31, over 9 months hence.

Forum: Across the great Christian divide
Meanwhile, Great Commission Christians ground their faith in biblical teachings that emphasize salvation, redemption, morality, obedience, righteousness, discipleship, evangelism and defending the fundamentals or essential tenets of faith (teachings that serve as a basis for much of the present Republican ideology thanks to the involvement of evangelicals in the Republican Party).
Great Command Christians try to ground their faith in biblical teachings such as love, acceptance, refusal to judge others, the Golden Rule, forgiveness, justice, peace, nonviolence, social responsibility and defending the poor and oppressed (teachings that have historically influenced the Democratic Party).
Still, Great Commanders are right in reminding us of the biblical command to look first at the log in our own eye, rather than the speck in another's, for prejudice is a sin; and that we who are without sin should cast the first stone, for all of us are sinners.

 AD 2000 Ecumentical Evangelism
While not every religious group uses this exact terminology, they all agree that it is a wonderful idea for Christians to forget their differences and work together in evangelism so that the task of evangelizing the world can be completed by the year 2000.
Note carefully the official statement issued by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops in the U.S.A. It is a warning against Biblical fundamentalism, carefully drafted to avoid needless offense to their ecumenical partners but clear enough to convince any born again Christian that Roman Catholics still preach a false gospel.
This is accomplished by the financing of numerous pastors' conferences, especially in third world nations, in which the ecumenical spirit is promoted and Biblical separation disdained and criticized.

Eidenmuller Promise Keepers Dissertation - Introduction and References
Promise Keepers is as serious an attack upon biblical separatism and fundamentalism as the [churches have] seen since the rise of Billy Graham and his ecumenical evangelism a generation ago.
While Promise Keepers has apparently been successful in sensitizing audiences to racial prejudice and divisive religious separatism, the perception persists among (some) evangelical critics that such sensitivity has been purchased at the price of sound spiritual discernment over what constitutes true biblical unity and true biblical separation.
Promise Keepers traces its origins to a conversation between then Colorado head football coach Bill McCartney and friend Dave Wardell while the two were driving to a meeting of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Pueblo, Colorado.

I considered four critical balance points: The tension between legalism and antinomianism (law and grace); emotionalism and intellectualism (heart and mind); societalism and evangelism (care ministries and evangelism); and traditionalism and novelism (old ways and new ways).
Each balance point was seen with its extremes and then with its Biblical parameters.
The issues that arise in the ongoing life of a church typically gather around these critical balance points.
