I'm still trying to keep it 'pure' but was not able to salvage the steering wire with its insulated coating intact and have some nice '48-ish' gauge wire from an analog battery clock. I don't know what this wire gauge actually is but it's a good deal finer than the wire in the bit clone steering coils [which measured 27 ohms; each whole coil] and is at the threshold of my ability to work with it.
