  26Pigs.com : UK Comics : Big Comic
Big Comic Fortnightly may have seemed like a blockbuster of a bargain for its young readers, but it did nothing for the British comics industry.
The comic used to have a joke section that dwindled in time (the prize was £2) and a Post it Page at the back which gave away merchandise (especially from the films Moonwalker and Ghostbusters 2, Corgi miniature cars, Polly Pocket or Manta Force prizes all spring to mind as well.
Teachers in the comic are often portrayed in 'old school' fashion (pardon the pun) as wearing a cloak with the flat headwear and tassel hanging from it (even using the cane!

A big, thick coffee-table hardcover (complete with dust jacket), CBE is a handsomely bound, abundantly illustrated overview whose entries encompass only the most influential and popular stuff.
And although it doesn't intend to be a comprehensive history of comics, CBE does include an easy-to-follow flowchart, printed on the front and back inside covers, to show the progression of the industry from 1922 to the present.

eBay Guides - Buying Original Comic Art
For those of you buying original comic art, you should be aware that most original comic art pages can be shipped via priority mail in one of those larger-sized boxes made flat which costs a big whopping $6.05 to anywhere in the United States (WITH extra cardboard for protection).
When purchasing original art from the actual artist, I am more than happy to pay a lot more for the shipping because I feel fortunate to be the very first person to take possession outside of the creator his or herself and I am reassured that the piece is not a fake.
I hope this can help in some way and that your original comic art buying experiences are as rewarding as mine have been.

Comics Should Be Good: Big Crossover Event Friday
It says something kind of embarrassing about the current state of comics that one of the first questions asked whenever DC or Marvel announces a big crossover mini-series is always, "Who's gonna die?" And it's asked with about the same level of emotional involvement as a bookie handicapping a horse race.
Thought "Brotherhood of the Monkey Fist" (strange that DC left "Monkey" off the cover--could have sold billions) was awesome when it first came out, but it doesn't hold up that well today, despite being the last of the great kung-fu events (though I have an idea Gail has a kick-ass one in her somewhere).
The "big crossover events" are driven by marketing -- it's just a way of getting a tiny pool of readers to buy a few more books that they ordinarily wouldn't buy.
