Big Finish Productions has announced that Gary Russell, who has overseen the production and direction of the company’s Doctor Who audio plays since they launched in 1999, is stepping down from that position.
The quality of Big Finish’s work on that range led to the official BBC license to produce Doctor Who audios, and more than a few fans are of the opinion that the Doctor Who audios led to the revival of the television series.
A Big Finish press release says only that Russell is moving on to an “exciting new opportunity,” and that he will still be directing - on a freelance basis, as time permits - several productions a year for the company.

LIVE 34 IS AN We knew that our first pitch to Big Finish, as part of its most recent open-submissions window, had somehow to stand out from all the others.
It was assistant producer Ian Farrington who first spotted LIVE 34 amongst the 650 or so fresh ideas sent in to the Big Finish offices during the summer of 2003.

In the early-mid 1990s, she also co-starred with Baker in a series of made-for-video science fiction films entitled The Stranger for BBV, although the first few films in the series were little more than Doctor Who episodes in disguise.
She also appeared alongside Baker, Davison, Sylvester McCoy and Jon Pertwee in another BBV production, "The Airzone Solution" which is notable as it includes a love scene between Baker and Bryant.
According to her official website, Bryant's acting work in recent years has been limited due to a back injury suffered during a fall on stage in the early 2000s, although she continued to work on Big Finish audio productions during her recuperation.
