Ertegun brothers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Ertegun brothers, Ahmet Ertegun (born 1923) and Nesuhi Ertegun (1917–1989) were co-founders of Atlantic Records.
Ahmet Ertegun, together with his brother Nesuhi, producer Tom Dowd, Jerry Wexler and others created Atlantic Records in the late 1940s as an independent record company that became a jazz and pop empire in the 1960s.
Many independent record executives, like the Erteguns, were from immigrant backgrounds, including the Bihari brothers and the Chess brothers.

Bihari liked the act and the song, christening the girls the Teen Queens; by the spring Aaron's little sisters had the number two RandB record in America and number 14 on the pop chart.

After a bitter rivalry with the Bihari brothers (who Phillips was also leasing material to) Chess would place the most promising of the Sun recorded artists, Howlin' Wolf, on its own label.
Happily, this unpleasant situation was remedied in the CD age, with Chess/MCA embarking upon a series of comprehensive reissues that restored almost all of the catalog to availability, including much of the rare and out-of-print material that had only surfaced on imports or bootlegs as well as material that had never surfaced.
The intentions and achievements of the Chess brothers have remained the subject of mixed scrutiny.
